A few answers about the pregnancy

1. What name did you and your spouse call your baby before you knew the gender? Baby Esselman

2. When did "Oh-my-gosh-we're-having-a-baby" really sink it? Probably when we found out the gender and then again when Adam could feel the baby move.

3. When you think of yourself as a mom, what's the first thing to come to mind? Holding the baby and watching Adam hold our baby.

4. Is your nursery complete? What's the theme and what do you have left to complete? Not yet, I am currently unpacking all the boxes we just threw in his room. As soon as I get all of those boxes unpacked then we can start setting it up. We have been going back and forth on themes/ colors we want in the room, and I think I want navy blue and lime in his nursery.

5. List 5 qualities you hope your baby will possess: As a baby I hope he will be smiley, chubby, cuddly, good sleeper, and playful!

6. What's your ideal labor experience? No pain and fast would be nice... But that's probably not going to happen so I hope I'll be somewhat calm (or let's hope Adam is more calm than me), little pain, and no problems pop up.

7. List 5 things that have changed in your relationship with your spouse since you've been pregnant: Adam rubs my feet, my back, and whatever I tell him is hurting. He rubs and talks to my tummy. We talk about baby stuff and how we hope our little guy is. We talk about budgets way more. We go to bed early, partly because he has to get up at 5 am.

8. List 5 things you think will change once your baby arrives: No sleep. Our love will grow for each other and this little boy. We will help each other more. We won't go out nearly as much.

9. Where do you think you'll be when you go into labor? Why? I think I'll be at home hopefully with Adam and not waiting for him to get home from work.

10. Have you been talking to your baby? Playing music? I haven't been talking to him, but we have put music on my belly... he goes nuts! Adam talks to him though.

11. In what ways do you hope your baby is like your spouse? I hope he is tall, dark, and handsome. I hope he is outgoing, always smiling, and hard working just like his Dad!

12. In what ways do you hope your baby is like you? I hope he's chubby. Blue eyes. That's about it, because I want him to be a mini Adam.

13. How long will you wait for the next baby, or if this is your last one, why/why not? We have talked about it and I think we want to have our next one when he is two or there about.

14. What kind of grandparents do you think your baby will have? Amazing! They will love him so much! First grandchild on both sides of the family, what's not to love?!

15. Who will be with you during labor? Who will visit you in the hospital during your recovery? Adam will be the only one in the delivery room with me. Other than that, friends might come and hopefully my mom can make it down in time. But other than that not too many people. Our family will hopefully make it to the baby blessing instead.

16. How much will you tell your baby (child, teenager) about your past? Why/why not? Probably everything I can remember because I was an angel! Adam and I were just talking about this. I think they'll make fun of me because the one time I tried to go against what my parents told me, I felt guilty for lying so I came home and called my mom in tears (they were out of town). All she did was laugh at me. I didn't even get in trouble!! Adam's past on the other hand.... haha Just kidding!

17. Do you have any hopes for your child's activities? (Sports, academics, school preference, activities, etc) We hope he plays sports. Basketball, baseball, football. Those are the main ones, but he can play anything! I hope he does well in school and will get involved in other activities besides sports.

18. When will you tell your baby about the birds and the bees? From the very beginning. Adam and I don't want him to be the kid that doesn't know a thing about that stuff when he hits high school. We really want him to be educated and smart about his choices.

19. In what ways do you hope you'll parent like your parents did? In what ways do you hope you aren't like them? I hope I can give him lots of opportunities to do things and make things fun for her. I hope I will be friends with my kids as well as their mom. I want them to be able to talk to me about anything.

20. Which childhood memory do you hope your child will have (similar to one you fondly remember)? I hope he is able to see his cousins as much as I was able to. Also, I want him to remember fun times with his siblings, because let's face it they become your best friends.

21. And finally, Be annoying! What "advice" do you want newly pregnant women to know? I'm not sure what advice I would give because my pregnancy is easier than most. I would probably just tell women to share everything with your husbands and document everything. That has been my favorite thing to do this pregnancy. Especially because Adam hasn't been with me for most of it, it's been fun to go back and show him the progression.
