Chronic Movers... hopefully not anymore!

Adam's job has not been what we thought it was going to be. When he first accepted the position, they told him he would be going to Salt Lake City. We were so excited because we had friends and family already here! We were excited to reconnect with old friends and get to spend time with family! Also, we were closer to most of our family being in Salt Lake! It was going to be great!

Then, two days before he was to leave Colorado (where he went for training), they told him that they were actually going to send him to Battle Mountain, Nevada. What?! First off, they told him this the day after we found out we were expecting baby. Second, Battle Mountain is literally out in the middle of no where!! Are you kidding me?! I already had committed to watching the twin boys and didn't want to back out. There were good doctors right around Salt Lake and none that we knew of in the town of Battle Mountain. So we decided that I should stay in Utah to watch the boys and have some good medical care for this baby. He was to come home on any weekend that he could.

It was terrible not seeing him every night. Even when he did come home, he was here for less than 48 hours total. So every weekend was let's-see-how-many-things-we-can-get-done instead of let's-relax-and-go-to-a-movie-tonight. We never felt like we could go hang out with other people because we knew this was the only time we had together. I wish we could have done more things with our family who live here, but we felt like we needed to spend that little bit of time we had, together.

The company kept telling him that they would get him transferred down to Salt Lake as soon as they could. They first told him the end of February, which became March, then they just didn't say anything anymore. He is currently training his replacement, but who knows how long that will take. We were counting on the fact that he would be back down here before the baby came. At this point, we have no idea if that would happen or not.

Well several weeks ago we had the opportunity to go to Reno, NV for a big construction recruiting conference. We were pretty discouraged after that because we would be switching companies so soon after Adam started. He didn't think anyone would take a second look at his resume. While he was there he spoke to a couple representatives from different companies. One in particular asked about his situation and why he was trying to leave this company already. Adam told him. Every detail. The guy didn't seem too interested in hiring him at that point. But a couple weeks later he received a call from this man, who also happens to be a VP of the company, who told him that he was really impressed with him. He wanted to consider the time they met in Reno as his first interview and that if he was still interested someone was going to give him a call for his second interview!!!! Can you believe it? We couldn't either!!

It took longer than we wanted for them to call for the second interview, but he got the call on the 22nd which was the same day we found out the gender of the baby! He said the interview went great and he would get back to him the next week with further details.

Well he got back to Adam yesterday with an offer!!! Seriously, our prayers were answered big time! We were a little skeptical to take it only because Adam had only been with his current company for so short time. But we decided (pretty quick too, I might add) that we would take this offer and then just know we were going to be with this company, no matter what, for several years. On the way in to work this morning, before he even stepped foot in the office, someone told him that the salt lake project was being shut down. Holy cow! I was shocked! We are definitely being watched over, that's for sure!!! So basically now that that project is shutting down, Adam would have never been transferred down here. We have no clue what would have happened if he hadn't accepted this other offer!!

So what does this mean for us? Another move. To Mesa/Chandler, Arizona (where ever we find an apartment)!!! Adam will be able to come home every night (which is huge). This will get him into commercial construction, which is what he wanted to do in the long run. We will be able to start our lives again. Together. We can have our own ward with people our own age. We will be able to make friends again. We will have our own apartment that we can start preparing for baby boy. We will have the weekends to just relax. This job has a higher chance of keeping us in the same areas for longer than with industrial construction. So hopefully we won't be moving around every year or less anymore!

The worst part is having to leave our good friends and family here. We will miss them big time! We really wish we were going to be here in Salt Lake when the baby came because it is so convenient for most of our family to come see us. It's so close to a lot of our family too, so that will be a bummer. Arizona is not too far away. However, we have decided that the pros out weigh the cons in this situation.

Adam reports on April 8th (yes, we know, basically a week and two days from now) so he will probably leave next weekend to get down there. I don't want to leave the boys hanging with nobody to watch them, so I will head down to Arizona as soon as we can figure out another situation for the boys! We are extremely excited for the chance Adam has and for this new move! Until then, I'll stay here to pack and watch the boys. I will be looking for apartments online and Adam will go look at them in person and hopefully have a place picked out before I head out there.
