Our nurses were great, for the most part! Of course I don't remember their names, but the first night we had the best nurse who hooked me up with IV's and got me an epidural before I even knew what was going on. Let's face it, I was having tons of hard contractions so I wasn't really paying attention to anything around me. The
I thought the epidural was going to make my legs tingly and a little uncomfortable. But actually you really don't feel a dang thing! Seriously, it was heaven after having hard contractions on top of each other. Granted, the nurses and my sweet husband had to move me if I needed to change positions, but it was so worth it! I was actually able to enjoy the rest of labor and especially the delivery. If I have a choice, I will always get an epidural!
There are no words to describe the feeling when your new sweet little babe is placed on your chest. You are admiring the tiny little human being that you created. You are amazed that this baby has been growing inside of you for the last nine months. You are amazed that he came out of you. You look up at your sweet husband and think of what a wonderful father he will be. Then it hits you. You are this baby's mother and it is up to you (and your amazing husband) to raise this baby into the well-mannered, kind, smart, respected young man you hope he will become. You have brought this little miracle into the world. You will be his first love and his Dad will be his hero.
After Dax joined us, we had to stay another night in the hospital. Dax had to spend a day in his tanning bed, but thank goodness it was only a day! We had to leave the hospital the first time with out our sweet baby, which was a really weird feeling. We both were able to sleep for a full night (more than 4 hours) for the last time in a long time. But we were more excited about going to the hospital the next day to take our little one home.
