Epidurals are amazing!

The morning I went into labor, my friend had just returned from a little vacation. She just happened to text me right when I was realizing that we were heading to the hospital within the next hour or so. She was definitely an answer to prayer because I was freaking out that nobody would be able to take care of Reggie that night. My mom was coming the next day so Reggie was taken care of after she arrived. After Courtney texted me, I didn't have to worry anymore because I knew she was there for me in whatever I needed. Her family took care of Reggie while we were in the hospital. They also were so great the night we went in to the hospital. They knew I couldn't eat anything, but they knew Adam would be starving so they came and brought him a sandwich. They stayed and visited for a whopping 20 minutes before the nurse came in to prep me for delivery. Adam had time to take one bite after they left before he was needed for delivery. Dax was delivered about 30 minutes after Courtney and Rick left the hospital!

Our nurses were great, for the most part! Of course I don't remember their names, but the first night we had the best nurse who hooked me up with IV's and got me an epidural before I even knew what was going on. Let's face it, I was having tons of hard contractions so I wasn't really paying attention to anything around me. The saint doctor who gave me the epidural had to wait a little bit because I was having so many contractions and he couldn't do anything during the contraction. Finally he got that thing in me. About 10-15 minutes later, and making Adam push the "Gimme more" button several times, I felt so much better! So much so that apparently I was snap chatting my family and don't even remember. Please witness this below:

Clearly I got pretty comfortable after Adam helped me overdose on the epidural!

I thought the epidural was going to make my legs tingly and a little uncomfortable. But actually you really don't feel a dang thing! Seriously, it was heaven after having hard contractions on top of each other. Granted, the nurses and my sweet husband had to move me if I needed to change positions, but it was so worth it! I was actually able to enjoy the rest of labor and especially the delivery. If I have a choice, I will always get an epidural!

There are no words to describe the feeling when your new sweet little babe is placed on your chest. You are admiring the tiny little human being that you created. You are amazed that this baby has been growing inside of you for the last nine months. You are amazed that he came out of you. You look up at your sweet husband and think of what a wonderful father he will be. Then it hits you. You are this baby's mother and it is up to you (and your amazing husband) to raise this baby into the well-mannered, kind, smart, respected young man you hope he will become. You have brought this little miracle into the world. You will be his first love and his Dad will be his hero.

After Dax joined us, we had to stay another night in the hospital. Dax had to spend a day in his tanning bed, but thank goodness it was only a day! We had to leave the hospital the first time with out our sweet baby, which was a really weird feeling. We both were able to sleep for a full night (more than 4 hours) for the last time in a long time. But we were more excited about going to the hospital the next day to take our little one home.
