First days home

We were able to go get Dax way earlier in the day than I was thinking. So we ran to the hospital, picked him up from the nursery, and left the hospital for the last time during this delivery process. It was a very exciting moment. We now had this little baby, whom we created, coming home with us. We had to learn right along with him. We are new at this so the first couple of weeks were probably very laughable if we had recorded it!

We finally brought him home and things were complete. Thank goodness my mom was with us though. She guided us through the first week and a half, cooked meals for us, cleaned, and stayed up late with Daxton a couple of times. But lucky for her, we didn't need her every second of the day and she was able to get out and relax in the pool.

Reggie has been pretty good with Daxton so far. He was a little jealous at the beginning, but now I think he is just protective of him. When Dax is eating, Reggie will come lay as close as we will let him. Reggie will get my attention when he hears Dax wake up from a nap and any time he is crying, Reggie will hurry, find him, and make sure he's okay. Reggie can't wait to play with him now. I can't wait until Dax can hold his own with Reggie, but until then Reggie just lays next to Dax any time he can!

Daxton has been an easier baby than I was expecting. When we first brought him home, he was sleeping for at least 3 hours at a time before he woke up to eat. It was awesome! I haven't had too many nights that he's been crying for hours all through the night. I think (knock on wood) there have only been about three or four and he's two months old already!

Adam was able to stay home with us for the first four or five days following the hospital. It was great to see him and Dax together and see him become a Dad. He has been so great in helping as much as he can. He is a very heavy sleeper though so the times he does wake up and offer to help, he is back to sleep before I can hand over Dax. :)  But it's been totally ok.
